AUDIENCE MEMBERS & PERFORMANCE / VELOCITIES

In performance we test new ways of engaging audiences in collective experiences. In each performance, we continue to research experiences of disorientation that occur in the asynchrony of individuals to their surroundings and to their communities. The multimodal nature of our enquiry has led us to explore various modes of performance that have audience participation at their core, whether presented on stage or in non-conventional spaces.

ORBITAL ASYMMETRIES, 2023, Rich Mix (London)

Orbital Asymmetries invites you inside a multi-layered experience of dance, film, sound-making and projection to consider together our desires for both autonomy and community.

This show tells the story of four strangers who, over the course of 24 hours, journey together through intimacy, fatigue, play and isolation. They dance through the disorientation that emerges from collective identity, sometimes yielding and sometimes resisting.

When is it possible to be both in solidarity and in dissonance? How do we retain non-conformity within a community? Can we build kinship in conflict? This work offers up a visually rich and rhythmically playful place to orbit these universal questions.

WORK IN PROGRESS SHARING, 2022, Kala Sangam

A new folk dance that straddles the tensions of wanting to be alone and wanting to be together, and all the feelings of confusion, responsibility, boredom, intimacy and freedom in between. The dancers use a nine-beat rhythmic cycle to build a non-linear narrative of what it means to be in collectivity.
